FAQ

Give To Capital Campaign

What is the order of priority for the projects? Who determines priorities?

Priorities have been determined by the vestry. To date they have consulted with parishioners, the Property Committee, our engineering firm, Process Results, Inc. and the roofing consultant, the Garland Company.

Core Priorities

  1. HVAC replacement

  2. Masonry Repairs

  3. Flat Roof Replacement

Accessibility and Environment Priorities

  1. New sound system in the church

  2. Martin Street ADA compliant doors and enhanced security system

  3. Sanctuary lighting upgrade

  4. Centennial Hall and women’s bathroom updates

  5. Emergency lighting replacement

What is the total cost of all planned projects?

Current project estimates are about $900,000. Our benchmark of $1,000,000 would give us a cushion for unexpected costs.

  • HVAC system replacement: $330,000

  • Masonry and water drainage repairs: $210,000

  • Flat Roof Replacement: $240,000 - $300,000

  • Accessibility and Environment: $92,500

What about the Parish Fund?

After careful deliberation and prayer and listening to parishioners who felt strongly about spending and preserving the Parish Fund, the Vestry and Parish Fund Committee decided that a $100,000 gift from the Property portion of the Parish Fund is an appropriate amount to help with the Capital Campaign.

This gift balances two purposes of the fund, helping with capital improvements and ensuring that the fund is present to help the parish in the future.

Since pledge payments will be made during a three year period, how will we bridge the gap between funds raised and the cost of each project?

To the best or our ability, projects will be spread over the three years and paid for as the church receives pledge money.  We can also choose the timing of parish fund money. If needed, asking a low interest loan from the diocese is an option.  It is our full intention to be able to start our first projects in late spring of this year after First Fruits Sunday.

When will Capital Campaign commitments be received? How long is the pledge period?

On Sunday, March 22, we will celebrate Commitment Sunday by committing our 3-year pledges to the capital campaign. Those who are not in worship on Sunday, March 22 will receive their pledge cards in the mail.

This gift is over and above the amount you already contribute to provide the necessary resources for our day-to-day ministries. Everyone is asked to consider making a 3-year gift to the capital campaign in addition to their annual pledge.

What is First Fruits Sunday?

On Sunday, April 26, everyone is invited to consider making a First Fruits offering to the capital campaign. The First Fruits offering may be attractive to those who want to make a gift early in the 3-year pledge period to allow the vestry to move forward more quickly with the list of projects.  You may make a First Fruits offering whether or not you have made a pledge to the campaign.

How will we take care of our building after the projects are completed?

Our engineering firm is putting together a maintenance and inspection plan for our new HVAC equipment. Also, we will be under a 30-year warrantee for our new roof.  At the same time we are reviewing property management software that would create a maintenance schedule for our entire church. The Property Committee and Vestry will be evaluating in-house and outside firm property management options.
